Change the world

Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre

The Desktop Project represents an extension of the successful Grade 11&12 Mathematics and Physical Science Saturday incubator school programme  and formal teacher skills upgrade programme that are implemented  by the GMMDU in various districts of the ECP. The impact of the VIDEO-based techno-blended model that forms the basis of these interventions could be extended to benefit many more learners at schools by providing broad learner access to desktop computers pre-loaded with the TouchTutor™ Maths and Science package.

Independent and flexible after-school learner access to all the content or support videos lessons that form part of the TouchTutor™ Maths and Science resource package will be possible. Workbooks that are aligned with content video lessons also provide valuable learning opportunities during individual or peer-support sessions.

Outcomes of the Maths and Science Desktop Support Project:

Hundreds of Grade 10-12 learners in the district who will have:

  • flexible access to quality syllabus-aligned Maths and Science tutoring via video;
  • access to Maths and Science learner workbooks that are aligned with syllabus-aligned content video lessons.
