The GMMDC’s Mobile Exhibit of Engagement & STEAM Activities

The GMMDC established a mobile exhibition in 2018 to showcase their educational programmes, products and STEAM education awareness activities to the public. This exhibit was put to good use during events such as  the  Annual Sci-fest Africa (South Africa’s National Science Festival) held in Grahamstown, National Science week celebrations in Cala in 2018 and at the National Science week celebrations in George in 2019.

The GMMDC exhibit was one of more than 50 festival exhibits/presentations in Grahamstown in 2018 & 2019 and the only one from NMU.  The festival received extensive media coverage, with the GMMDC also making their television debut in 2018, live on ETV’s Sunrise. The GMMDC exhibition took a multi-pronged, interactive approach and appealed to visitors of all ages. It featured Mathematics and Physical Sciences using Technology as a mediating platform, thus promoting the world-wide STEAM phenomenon. Android tablets and guides were on hand for visitors to explore the TouchTutor® and other digital materials. The free TouchTutor® Quiz mobile Android application was also demonstrated during exhibits.  An interactive touch screen was also on display. Learners could take part in hands-on activities where they could build their own 3-D solids using the innovative 4D Frame STEAM Kits.
